Find Out More and Tell Others
There’s a ton of research and information out there on the situation of girls around the world and in your own community, and a growing number of organisations that are working to empower girls. Learn about the issues, arm yourself with information and speak up for girls! The more advocates there are who are speaking out, the brighter the spotlight will be on what needs to change to make progress, and the more difficult it will be for governments and other decision-makers to ignore the issue. Join the conversation (or start one!) online on Facebook and Twitter, or face-to-face in school or your workplace.
Get involved
Volunteer your time and skills with organisations working to empower girls, start your own project in your community, start a petition, become a campaigner, join a group of fellow advocates, write about the issue, attend events. There are many different ways you can get involved – just find out how you can participate or help, match it with your time and skills, and then go for it!
Give
Financial support can make a tremendous difference to efforts to help girls. You can donate directly to projects, you can attend a fundraiser, you can ‘shop for a cause’, or you can organise your own fundraiser. And there are many creative ways to fundraise: from lemonade stands and bake-sales, to crowdfunding, to organising a ticketed event, to taking part in sporting events (getting people to sponsor your marathon or soccer tournament for eg.) etc.
All donations to Good for Girls, a 501(c)3 registered charity in the US, are tax-exempt to the full extent of the law. Checks can be sent to Project Good for Girls Inc, 235 East 22nd Street, Apt 6D, New York, NY 10010, USA.
